Prof. Dr. Ida Jovanovic was born on 1 April 1954 in Belgrade. She graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 1979. She is the recipient of the City of Belgrade October Award for student scientific work. After completing her studies, she got a job at the University Children’s Clinic in Belgrade, where she worked until 2018. Dr. Ida Jovanovic’s focus of interest throughout her professional career is the field of paediatric cardiology, and within that, in particular the ultrasound diagnostics of heart diseases in children. She specialized in paediatrics in 1987. She is a pioneer in the introduction of foetal echocardiography in the Balkans, which she started doing in 1985. She received her master’s degree in 1985 and her PhD in 1993 with the topic “Possibilities of Doppler echocardiography in hemodynamic quantification of ventricular septal defect”. Her current area of interest is the introduction of magnetic resonance imaging of the heart in children and adults with congenital and acquired heart diseases. Currently, she is the head of paediatrics at BioCell Hospital.

She was educated in several countries: at UCLA University in Los Angeles, in several centres in England, Japan, Monaco, Frankfurt, etc.

She began her academic career in 1989 at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade and was elected full professor in 2010. She has been an invited lecturer at numerous foreign gatherings.

She has written 42 book chapters. She has published more than 300 works, of which more than 40 in important foreign journals. She was the mentor of 6 doctoral theses, 6 master’s and many subspecialist theses. She was the head and general director of the University Children’s Clinic (Tirsova) in Belgrade, head of the Paediatric Service of the MediGroup Hospital. Now she is the head of paediatrics at BioCell Hospital. She is a member of the Academy of Sciences of SLD.
